MLS to Align Calendar with European Leagues in 2027 for Enhanced Global Competitiveness

Major League Soccer (MLS) is set to synchronize its calendar with European leagues from 2027, following a vote by club owners. The move, led by MLS Commissioner Don Garber, aims to boost global competitiveness and enhance transfer market opportunities.

The new system will see matches starting in July and ending in April, with playoffs in May. MLS will adopt a single-table format and introduce a lengthy winter break to align with international windows and improve player participation.
