Mob Kills MOPOL Officer and Burns Patrol Van in Borno Mining Site Attack

In Borno state, a mob attack occurred at a mining site belonging to Millennium Metal in the Zunzungi area. The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) personnel were on a routine patrol when they encountered a group of local youths known as "daba boi" illegally mining monazite, locally referred to as zeiko.

The situation escalated when the NSCDC operatives seized the illegal mining products, leading to a violent confrontation. The mob, led by the youths, launched an attack on the security team, resulting in the burning of a Hilux patrol vehicle.

During the attack, PC Emmanuel Samson, an attached Mobile Police (MOPOL) officer from Mopol 12 in Minna, was brutally beaten to death. The tragic incident highlights the dangers faced by security personnel in combating illegal activities in the region.
