Group Calls for New Investigation Team in Mohbad Case

The United Advocates Group (UAG) has called on Lagos State Commissioner of Police Fatai Tijani to replace the current investigation team looking into the death of singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, known as Mohbad. The group argues that new officers should be assigned to ensure an independent, transparent, and credible investigation.

This demand follows a re-investigation initiated in April 2025 after the intervention of the former Inspector-General of Police, which has remained unresolved after being transferred to the Lagos State Police Command. The UAG expressed concerns that further delays in assigning a new team could exacerbate public distrust.

They highlighted issues with the previous investigation, including an officer's failure to pursue critical leads and inconsistencies in communication regarding another officer's involvement. Mohbad died in September 2023 under controversial circumstances, leading to public outrage and legal disputes over his estate and paternity issues concerning his son, Liam, born in April 2023.
