Outrage as Lagos CP Tijani Fatai Attends City Boy Event

A video circulating on social media has caused significant backlash after it depicted Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai, attending the inauguration of the City Boy Movement’s Lagos State Chapter Executive Committee on Tuesday in Ikeja. The footage shows CP Tijani in full uniform interacting with attendees, including individuals wearing caps associated with President Bola Tinubu and his son, Seyi Tinubu.

The City Boy Movement is a youth-led group aligned with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, focusing on grassroots mobilization and support for APC candidates ahead of the 2027 elections. The Nigeria Democratic Congress condemned CP Tijani's attendance, arguing it raises serious concerns about his impartiality and could indicate bias in his duties during the elections.

They demanded his immediate suspension and a commitment to neutrality from the Nigeria Police Force. The incident has sparked debate on social media regarding the appropriateness of a police commissioner attending a partisan event.
