CSOs Demand Probe into Lagos Prince's Murder Investigation

On Wednesday, civil society organizations called for an investigation by the Inspector General of Police into the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) regarding the murder case of Prince Ademola Akinloy, son of Oba Tijani Akinloy. The coalition, represented by Femi Lawson, dismissed allegations of corruption against Assistant Inspector General of Police Moshood Jimoh as unfounded.

They urged the Inspector General to investigate the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of SCID and other personnel involved. The coalition emphasized the need for a fresh investigation following new evidence presented by Petit Ojomu, including eyewitness accounts and confession statements.

They called for strict adherence to court orders regarding the custody of the prime suspect, Ahm Tajudeen Akanbi, and demanded that law enforcement agencies operate without intimidation. The coalition also defended Jimoh against corruption allegations, asserting that claims against him were baseless and lacked credible evidence.
