Monaco Explains Collapse of Lamine Camara's Chelsea Move

Monaco's sporting director, Thiago Scuro, addressed the failed transfer of Senegalese midfielder Lamine Camara to Chelsea on deadline day. He confirmed that manager Xabi Alonso had communicated directly with Camara regarding the move.

Scuro stated that Monaco's withdrawal was “part of the game” and acknowledged the difficulty for Camara, assuring him that better opportunities would arise in the future. The breakdown of the transfer was linked to Monaco's negotiations to sell Folarin Balogun to Everton.

When Balogun failed a medical at Everton, Monaco briefly considered allowing Camara's transfer to Chelsea. However, after Balogun withdrew from the Everton deal entirely, Monaco decided to block Camara's transfer.

Chelsea had been negotiating with Monaco for an extended period, initially quoted €70 million for Camara, which later dropped to €55 million. Chelsea expressed frustration over Monaco's actions, particularly after a written agreement had been reached.
