Okowa Accuses Nwoko of Misleading on Anioma State Proposal

Ifeanyi Okowa, the former Governor of Delta State, accused Senator Ned Nwoko of deceiving the public with his proposal for the creation of Anioma State. During a meeting with APC stakeholders in the Oshimili South Local Government Area, Okowa stated that the proposal is unrealistic given the current legislative calendar and warned that it misleads the public.

He emphasized that the decision regarding Anioma State should depend on a collective agreement among the people, asserting that there is no indigenous opposition to the idea. Okowa criticized attempts to alter the status of Asaba as the capital of Delta State, highlighting the historical significance of the city.

He reiterated that the advocacy for Anioma State should reflect the collective will of the people from the nine local government areas in Delta North, situated within the South-South geopolitical zone. Okowa concluded by stressing the importance of consultation and the need to avoid misleading narratives regarding the aspirations of the Anioma people.
