PDP Forms Alliance with People's Movement for 2027 Elections

The People's Democratic Party (PDP) faction led by Kabiru Turaki has formed a new alliance with the People's Movement (APM) in preparation for the 2027 general elections. This development was confirmed by spokesperson Ini Ememobong on Wednesday.

The alliance emerged from a summit of opposition political party leaders held in Ibadan, Oyo State, in April. The summit included various opposition factions, such as the Turaki-led PDP faction, the African Democratic Congress (ADC), and the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), who announced plans to support a single presidential candidate for the upcoming elections.

The latest alliance is expected to strengthen ongoing coalition talks among opposition forces ahead of the polls. Additionally, Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has purchased a senatorial nomination form, further fueling speculation about realignments within the opposition.

Prominent PDP figure and Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde is scheduled to participate in a joint mega rally in Ibadan, amidst reports of several PDP lawmakers defecting to the APM.
