U.S. Seeks to Revoke Citizenship of Nigerian Fraudster

The U.S. Department of Justice has initiated a lawsuit seeking to revoke the citizenship of Nigerian Emmanuel Oluwatosin Kazeem.

Kazeem was convicted in 2018 for his involvement in an $11 million wire fraud and identity theft scheme, which affected 259,000 victims. He was sentenced to 15 years in prison, but his sentence was commuted by former President Joe Biden.

The fraudulent activities occurred between 2012 and 2015, during which Kazeem filed fake tax returns to pocket the stolen funds. This legal action underscores the U.S. government's efforts to address fraud and protect its immigration system from individuals involved in serious criminal activities.
