APC and Accord Party Spend Over N100 Billion in Osun Election

In the aftermath of the August 15 governorship election in Osun State, it has been reported that the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Accord Party collectively deployed over N100 billion for campaign activities. This expenditure included costs for campaign materials, vote buying, payments to agents, canvassers, security personnel, and electoral officers across the state's 3,763 polling units and 332 wards.

This spending significantly exceeded the N3 billion limit established by the Electoral Act 2026 for each governorship candidate. Concurrently, President Bola Tinubu has ordered the suspension of three Permanent Secretaries—M.S.

Danjuma, Nadungu Gagare, and Richard P. Pheelangwah—following the discovery of a fake agency named the “National Brands Development and Made-in-Nigeria Special Project Office” operating within the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

Additionally, the President has directed the arrest of George Buchi Nwabueze in connection with this matter.
