EFCC Discovers Illegal Oil Refinery in Ogun State

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) uncovered an illegal oil refinery allegedly operated by Chinese nationals in the Ogere area of Ogun State. This discovery occurred on Saturday, October 31, following intelligence and surveillance conducted by the commission’s Lagos Zonal Directorate 2.
EFCC spokesman Dele Oyewale reported that operatives found underground tanks, waste products, and substances suspected to be diesel at the site. Preliminary investigations revealed that the operators sourced black sludge from Warri in Delta State and Port Harcourt in Rivers State before transporting it to Ogere for processing.
When the operatives arrived, the facility was deserted. Ongoing investigations aim to establish the identities of the operators and the ownership of the refinery.
