Morocco's Coach Praises AFCON Ruling Amid Senegal's Appeal

Morocco's new coach, Walid Regragui, who recently replaced the previous coach, expressed satisfaction with the CAF's ruling that reversed a controversial penalty decision awarded to Senegal during a match. This decision followed an incident where Senegal's player, Pape Guey, briefly walked off the pitch in protest during stoppage time.

Although Morocco missed a penalty, Guey's late strike in extra time secured a win for Senegal. The Morocco Football Federation welcomed the CAF's verdict, praising the decision.

In contrast, the Senegal Football Federation has announced plans to legally challenge the ruling, instructing their lawyers to file an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport. This legal action follows a previous disciplinary action by CAF in January, which resulted in Senegal being heavily fined for unsporting conduct, although the match result remained unchanged.

Morocco is now looking ahead to their participation in Group C of the upcoming AFCON tournament alongside Brazil, Scotland, and Haiti.
