Mother Escapes Fire That Destroys Three Buildings in Ilorin

Mrs Aisha Suleiman, a mother of two, recounted her harrowing escape from a fire that destroyed three buildings, including her apartment, at Oloje Housing Estate in Ilorin, Kwara State, on Tuesday at approximately 2am. Aisha discovered the fire beneath her freezer and attempted to extinguish it with water and detergent, but her efforts were unsuccessful.

Realizing the danger, she quickly retrieved her credentials and removed her kitchen gas cylinder before carrying her two children to safety. The fire resulted in the loss of nearly all her household belongings, including furniture, kitchen utensils, and a generator.

Aisha expressed her distress over the incident, particularly as residents had been facing electricity issues for about three years. She also mentioned an unusual electrical incident in the area two weeks prior to the fire, although she did not elaborate on that event.
