Motor Boy Dies in Lagos-Ibadan Expressway Crash

On Thursday, a motor boy died following a series of multi-vehicle crashes on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, specifically on the Kara Bridge section. The accidents involved three articulated trucks, two Mitsubishi Canter trucks, a Toyota Sienna, and an overturned trailer carrying chemical substances.

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) reported that the overturned trailer obstructed the roadway, leading to a chain-reaction collision. Despite rescue efforts by agencies including the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), and the Nigeria Police Force, the motor boy was confirmed dead at the scene.

The crashes caused severe traffic congestion extending from Kara Bridge through Berger to Otedola Bridge. LASTMA implemented temporary traffic diversions to manage the situation.

General Manager Olalekan Bakare-Oki expressed condolences to the deceased's family and urged truck operators to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with traffic regulations.
