MTN Upgrades School for Spelling Bee Champion Alayand

MTN Nigeria honored 14-year-old Oreoluwa Alayand, the champion of the 2025 MTN Mpuls Spelling Bee competition, by investing ₦10 million in upgrades for St. Lawrence Metropolitan College in Ado Ekiti.

The upgrades include the installation of ten new air conditioners, a computer laboratory, a 30kw lithium inverter battery system, ten laptops, and ten broadband devices. The event, attended by family members, state officials, and students, also featured a formal presentation of a ₦5 million educational grant to support secondary and tertiary education.

MTN's Chief Executive Officer, Dai, expressed anticipation for future celebrations and acknowledged the contributions of Alayand's coach, Gbenga Julius, who received a ₦500,000 cash prize. Alayand, a second-year senior secondary school student, expressed gratitude for MTN's support, emphasizing the importance of education and hard work.

The school’s proprietor, Lawrenc Oluwafemi, praised MTN for its commitment to intellectual development and announced a scholarship for free tuition until the completion of studies.
