Oreoluwa Alayande Wins Spelling Bee, School Receives N10m Upgrade

Oreoluwa Alayande, a 14-year-old student from St. Lawrence Metropolitan College in Ado Ekiti, emerged as the champion of the 2025 MTN M-Puls Spelling Bee competition, which took place in Lagos.

Her victory not only honored her school but also resulted in a N10 million intervention project from MTN Nigeria aimed at improving the school's science and technology facilities. The project includes the installation of 10 new air-conditioned computer laboratories, a 30kw lithium inverter battery system, 10 brand new laptops, broadband devices, and educational materials to strengthen digital learning.

During the ceremony, Chinyer Ikechi, a representative from MTN Ekiti State, emphasized the company's commitment to nurturing talent and supporting academic excellence. Oreoluwa expressed pride in her achievement and encouraged her peers to remain focused and determined.

Additionally, her primary coach received N500,000 for mentorship, recognizing the contributions to her success. Oreoluwa is also set to serve as the CEO of MTN Nigeria for a day on March 11, 2026, providing her with exposure to corporate leadership.
