MTN Nigeria Dominates Mobile Number Portability Statistics

MTN Nigeria has emerged as the leader in mobile number portability, as reported by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC). Over the last five months, MTN maintained the highest number of inward ports, gaining 1,183 subscribers in February 2026 alone.

The total number of inward ports across networks in February 2026 was 1,835, with Airtel gaining 428 subscribers, Globacom 195, T2 21, and Vitel 8. In the previous months, MTN consistently led with significant gains: 937 subscribers in October 2025, 827 in November 2025, 964 in December 2025, and 740 in January 2026.

Conversely, MTN recorded the least number of outward ports, losing only 195 subscribers in February 2026, compared to Airtel's loss of 241, Globacom's 381, T2's 1,018, and others. This indicates a strong subscriber retention for MTN, reflecting customer satisfaction with its network services.
