Multiple Fatalities in Police Vehicle Crash in Middlesbrough

A tragic collision occurred at approximately 03:39 am on Saturday on the A66 in South Bank, near Middlesbrough in Teesside, involving a police vehicle and a Volkswagen Passat. Cleveland Police confirmed that the incident resulted in multiple fatalities, and they are currently working to identify the victims and notify their families.

The North East Ambulance Service reported that a total of three vehicles were involved and dispatched 14 ambulances to the scene. Despite the efforts of emergency responders, several patients were pronounced dead at the scene.

Cleveland Police described the situation as “quickly evolving” and requested the public to avoid speculation regarding the incident. The road remains closed in both directions between Normanby Road and Church Lane, and significant emergency service presence continues at the site.
