Three Dead, 20 Injured in Osun Highway Crash

On Saturday, a road crash occurred at Tonkere town along the Ife-Ilesa Expressway in Osun State, resulting in the deaths of three individuals and injuries to 20 others. The accident involved a Toyota Hiace bus and a Volkswagen Golf car, with a total of 23 people on board, including nine males, 11 females, and three children (two boys and one girl).

Mr. Sunday Adebayo, the Osun State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), confirmed that the fatalities included two females and one male. The injured victims were taken to a hospital for medical treatment, although the specific facility was not disclosed.

Adebayo attributed the crash to speeding and dangerous driving, urging motorists to adhere to traffic regulations to prevent such incidents. He emphasized the importance of safe driving practices and announced that the FRSC would continue its enforcement operations and public awareness campaigns to enhance road safety in Osun State.
