Seven Dead in Ogun State Multi-Vehicle Crash

On August 24, 2026, at approximately 12:03 am, a tragic multi-vehicle collision occurred along the Ibafo–Lagos corridor near Kara in Ogun State, resulting in the deaths of seven individuals. The vehicles involved included a white HOWO CNG/CIMC ENRIC, a white MACK trailer, and a Mitsubishi Canter with registration number JJJ920YA.

While seven occupants died at the scene, two others sustained injuries and were promptly taken for medical care. Superintendent Route Commander Afolabi Odunsi of the FRSC Ogun State Sector Command reported that officers responded within five minutes of the incident.

Preliminary investigations suggest excessive speed as a probable cause, although full investigations are ongoing. The deceased were evacuated by the Ogun State Ambulance Service, and the crashed vehicles were handed over to the Motor Traffic Division of the Nigeria Police Force in Ibafo for further action.

Corps Commander Oludare Ogunjobi expressed condolences to the victims' families and urged commercial motorists to adhere to speed limits and exercise caution on highways, especially at night.
