NANS Demands Arrest of Killers of Ogun Polytechnic Student

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), South-West Zone, has demanded the immediate arrest and prosecution of armed robbers involved in the murder of a final-year female student from the Marketing department at D.S. Adegbenro ICT Polytechnic, Itori, Ogun State.

The student was killed during a robbery on a Monday night in the Eruku area, leading to protests by students who blocked the Lagos-Abeokuta expressway. A delegation from NANS, led by South-West Coordinator Josiah Adeyemo, visited the Polytechnic to express condolences and urged government officials to prioritize campus security.

Adeyemo appealed to the Inspector-General of Police, the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, and Governor Dapo Abiodun for increased security in student-dense neighborhoods. The delegation also met with Oba Ajagungbade Gbadewolu Atobatele, who announced the deployment of ten local security operatives.

Rector Goke Rauf expressed sorrow over the incident and outlined measures to enhance student safety, including new hostels and improved security arrangements.
