NANS Issues 72-Hour Ultimatum Over Student Abductions

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has given the Ogun State Government and security agencies a 72-hour ultimatum to rescue five abducted students from Gateway ICT Polytechnic, Saapade, and to arrest those responsible for the killing of a student from D.S. Adegbenro ICT Polytechnic, Itori.

During a press conference on Wednesday at the Nigeria Union of Journalists Secretariat in Abeokuta, NANS Secretary-General Oladimeji Uthman, also known as “Dan Fodio,” expressed concerns over the rising insecurity affecting students, including incidents of kidnapping, armed robbery, and cult violence. NANS warned of sustained peaceful protests across Ogun State if their demands are not met.

Uthman also called for a high-powered delegation from the state government to condole with the family of the deceased student, Ahmed Sekinat, and to visit another injured student at the Federal Medical Centre, Abeokuta. He criticized security agencies for ignoring previous requests for strategic meetings to discuss solutions to the growing insecurity.
