Lawmaker Reveals Colleague Struggled with School Fees

Chinedu Obika, a member of the National Assembly representing AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency in the Federal Capital Territory, disclosed that a fellow lawmaker was unable to pay his daughter's ₦700,000 school fees. Obika intervened and paid the fees approximately two months ago, contradicting the public perception that all National Assembly members are financially well-off.

During an interview on KAA Truths, he emphasized that many lawmakers do not experience the financial benefits often assumed by the public. Obika argued that lawmakers who remain silent during proceedings should not be automatically accused of receiving inducements, as some may not gain anything from their positions.

He also stated that the allowances and benefits of National Assembly members are publicly available, urging Nigerians to inquire about specific figures rather than rely on speculation regarding lawmakers' earnings.
