Lawmaker Aids Colleague Unable to Pay School Fees

Chinedu Obika, a member of the House of Representatives representing the AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency of the Federal Capital Territory, disclosed that a colleague was unable to pay ₦700,000 for his daughter's school fees two months ago. Obika intervened to help settle the bill.

During an interview on KAA Truths, he addressed public perceptions that National Assembly members are overpaid, stating that not all lawmakers experience the "personal enrichment" often attributed to them. He emphasized that some members remain silent not due to being compensated but because they lack significant achievements to report.

Obika did not disclose the name of the colleague involved in the school fees incident but insisted that all entitlements for National Assembly members are publicly available. He challenged Nigerians to seek specific information rather than rely on unverified claims about lawmakers' earnings.
