Bayelsa Deputy Governor Shares Father's Sacrifice for Education

During a special thanksgiving service held at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) headquarters in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, Deputy Governor Akp recounted his father's determination to fund his education despite severe financial hardships. He revealed that his family lived in a zinc house on the waterfront and faced significant challenges, including his siblings forgoing school due to financial constraints.

Akp shared that his father once spent five hours begging for N110 to pay his school fees, reflecting the family's struggle with poverty. He emphasized that despite these difficulties, his father remained committed to ensuring his education.

Akp, who was sworn in as Deputy Governor in February following the death of the late Deputy Governor Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, expressed gratitude for the support they received from God, stating that their journey has been fraught with challenges but has also been a testament to faith and perseverance.
