Adelabu Prioritizes Power Role Amid Oyo Guber Speculation

Adebayo Adelabu, the Minister of Power, stated that his current job remains his priority during a press briefing in Abuja. He addressed questions regarding his potential entry into the Oyo State governorship race but did not confirm whether he would resign from his ministerial position amid growing speculation.

Adelabu highlighted the importance of tackling both known and unforeseen challenges in the power sector, indicating that resolving power supply issues is his primary focus. His comments come in light of a directive from President Bola Tinubu, which requires political appointees intending to contest in the 2027 general elections to resign by March 31, 2026, to ensure compliance with electoral laws.

Although there are reports suggesting that Tinubu may endorse Adelabu for the governorship, he has not publicly confirmed this. The political landscape in Oyo State remains uncertain, with other potential candidates, including Sharafadeen Alli, also in consideration.
