NAMA Urges Review of N11,000 Flight Charge Since 2008 for Aviation Sustainability

The Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) has declared that the current charge of N11,000 per flight is no longer realistic, as it has remained unchanged since 2008. At a stakeholder retreat in Abuja, Umar from NAMA highlighted the inadequacy of the charge, especially in comparison to the costs incurred by airlines.

NAMA emphasized the need for a review to reflect current economic realities and operational costs. Stakeholders were urged to understand the necessity for an adjustment in charges to ensure sustainability in the aviation sector.

The agency highlighted its continuous investment in modernization efforts while facing financial constraints due to the outdated fee structure.
