NAF Completes Acceptance of First M-346 Fighter Aircraft

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has achieved a significant milestone in its fleet modernization program by successfully completing the Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) for the first batch of three M-346 Fighter Attack (FA) aircraft at Leonardo Aircraft Division’s facility in Venegono, Italy. This acceptance exercise took place from June 29 to July 9, 2026, and was conducted by a joint delegation from the NAF and the Ministry of Defence, fulfilling all contractual acceptance requirements prior to the aircraft's delivery to Nigeria.

The aircraft, designated NAF 01, NAF 02, and NAF 03, passed all technical and airworthiness inspections. The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, stated that this acquisition enhances the NAF's operational capabilities, enabling improved training and combat readiness.

The delegation also discussed pilot training, logistics support, and fleet sustainment with Leonardo Aircraft Division. This initiative aligns with President Bola Tinubu's commitment to modernizing the Armed Forces through advanced technology.
