Nigerian Air Force to Retrieve Service Weapons from Retired Personnel for Security Compliance

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has disclosed plans to retrieve service weapons from retired personnel in line with the provisions of the Firearms Act to address security concerns and ensure compliance with existing laws governing firearm possession. The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, made this announcement during a parley with Nigerian Air Force veterans in Abuja.

The NAF is exploring modalities to establish a regulatory armory system and allow eligible retired personnel to lawfully possess approved firearms calibrated within existing regulations. The NAF emphasized the importance of properly accounting for retrieved service weapons and ensuring the welfare of senior veterans.

The initiative aims to enhance security and regulatory compliance within the Nigerian Air Force.
