NAFDAC Warns of Counterfeit Colgate Toothpaste in Nigeria

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has alerted the public to the circulation of counterfeit Colgate toothpaste products in Nigeria. The agency received complaints regarding unregistered products in Kaduna State, prompting an investigation.

NAFDAC officials discovered two suspect counterfeit items: Colgate Activgel 100g and Colgate Herbal 100g. The shop owner informed the team that the products were purchased through door-to-door sales, but no proof of purchase was provided.

These products do not meet regulatory standards and pose potential risks to public health and safety. NAFDAC has since removed the items from circulation and is actively investigating to identify and track the distributors.

The affected products lack batch numbers and NAFDAC registration numbers, and are manufactured by Guangzhou Yecai Oral Clean Product Co. Ltd., with a manufacturing date of August 2025 and an expiration date of August 2029.

NAFDAC advises consumers to verify the authenticity of products and report any suspicious items to their offices.
