NAFDAC Seizes N100m in Expired Food Products in Niger

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has seized expired food products valued at N100 million in Niger State. The operation, which took place in Bida, resulted in the closure of 18 warehouses located around Ndazabo White House along Minna Road, behind Bida Modern Market.

NAFDAC's enforcement team acted on credible intelligence, recovering a significant quantity of expired items, including 80,000 packets of non-alcoholic drinks, 5,000 packets of dairy milk, 16,000 packets of bottled water, and 28 cartons of assorted pasta. During the operation, management personnel were arrested and interrogated.

Preliminary findings linked the facilities to a company identified as Ventur, prompting NAFDAC officials to extend their investigation to supermarkets owned by the company in Minna. Additionally, counterfeit Goya oil was allegedly discovered in one supermarket.

Alhaji Yusuf Nadabo, the managing director of the company, was invited for further questioning and admitted ownership of the expired products. NAFDAC's investigation is ongoing, with appropriate regulatory sanctions expected to be imposed.
