NAFDAC Dismantles Counterfeiting Operation in Lagos

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) discovered a residential building at 322B Meiran Road, Agbado Oke Odo, Lagos, where over 100 sacks of empty bottles from various alcoholic beverage brands were allegedly stockpiled for suspected counterfeiting. The operation was conducted by the agency’s Investigation and Enforcement Directorate following credible intelligence.
Mr Kunle Ojo, Assistant Director of the Directorate, reported that the bottles, covered with tarpaulins, were intended for distribution to counterfeiters for the production of fake alcoholic drinks. The premises contained large quantities of empty bottles of different sizes and brands, including Action Bitter and Royal Circle Premium Whisky.
Ojo expressed concern over the operation occurring in a residential area and stated that NAFDAC's intervention aimed to protect public health. He urged Nigerians to report suspicious activities to NAFDAC to help combat the circulation of counterfeit products.
