INEC Denies Nafiu Gombe's Access to Nomination Portal

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has refuted claims made by Nafiu Gombe regarding access to its nomination portal, asserting that the leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) led by David Mark is the only recognized faction. INEC officials, speaking anonymously, clarified that Gombe was not granted an access code to upload candidate names for the 2027 general elections, emphasizing that their operations adhere strictly to the legal framework established by the Electoral Act and INEC guidelines.

The commission maintains that Gombe's faction lacks legal authority to upload candidate names, and any claims to the contrary are unfounded. INEC's national chairman, Professor Joash Amupitan, described allegations from Atiku Abubakar's media office as baseless, asserting that they are attempts to undermine opposition parties.

Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC's national public secretary, also dismissed claims that Gombe's faction could upload candidates, calling for an investigation into the allegations of forgery and unauthorized use of documents.
