NALDA Launches Mega Farm Program to Enhance Food Security

The National Agricultural Land Development Authority (NALDA) is set to engage rural farmers across Nigeria to boost food security. The agency has secured 5,000 hectares of land in the Ora Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State for a mega farm program.

This initiative, described as the first of its kind in Nigeria, aims to enhance food production and reduce insecurity. NALDA's Executive Secretary, Segun Cornelius Adebayo, highlighted that the project will engage approximately 5,000 citizens, positively impacting around 10,000 lives.

The program includes the establishment of infrastructure such as hostels, administrative blocks, and warehouses. Adebayo emphasized the importance of systematic investment in agriculture to reach grassroots levels.

The project will also involve training farmers on best practices, including timely planting and fertilizer application. Local leaders, including Alhaji Abdulrashe Yusuf and Oba Rilwan Yekini, expressed support for the initiative, viewing it as a solution to insecurity challenges faced by the community.
