NANNM Warns BSUTH Actions May Worsen Nurses' Strike in Benue State

The Nigerian Association of Nurses and Midwives (NANNM) in Benue State has cautioned the Benue State University Teaching Hospital (BSUTH) against actions that could exacerbate the ongoing nurses' strike. Tahav Kershio, the state chairman of NANNM, criticized alleged intimidation and punitive measures taken against striking nurses, describing them as outdated and counterproductive to resolving the conflict.

Kershio highlighted issues such as delayed salaries, unpaid arrears, and discrepancies in payments affecting nurses at BSUTH. The association accused the hospital management of sabotaging efforts to address these grievances, leading to a prolonged strike affecting over 100 nurses.

Kershio dismissed claims of political motivations and emphasized the nurses' welfare as the primary concern. The association called on the Benue State government to urgently intervene and address the nurses' grievances to prevent further escalation of the crisis and restore industrial harmony in the hospital.
