NANS Launches Audit of TETFund Projects Nationwide

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has commenced a nationwide audit of projects funded by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) in response to growing concerns regarding project delivery, execution quality, and allegations of abandonment. NANS President Akintey Babatunde announced the formation of an independent committee tasked with assessing, verifying, and monitoring the implementation and impact of TETFund projects across tertiary institutions in Nigeria.

This decision follows persistent complaints about the quality and timeliness of project completions, with concerns raised about the involvement of contractors and the overall effectiveness of TETFund interventions. The committee, chaired by Salahudeen Lukman, is expected to conduct a nationwide tour to evaluate the status of TETFund projects and their impact on teaching, learning, and student welfare.

The committee aims to submit its findings and recommendations within 90 days. TETFund has been a significant source of funding for public tertiary institutions, but issues such as project abandonment and cost overruns have attracted criticism from educational stakeholders.
