NANS Demands Action on Abduction of Ogun Polytechnic Students

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) condemned the recent abduction of students from Gateway ICT Polytechnic, Saapade, Ogun State, describing it as a troubling indication of increasing insecurity around tertiary institutions. In a statement issued by NANS President Akinteye Babatunde on Friday, the association urged the Federal Government, Ogun State Government, and security agencies to ensure the immediate rescue of the abducted students and to bolster security on campuses nationwide.

The kidnapping occurred following an attack on a private hostel along Paraga Road, Ipara, on Wednesday night. NANS expressed deep sorrow over the incident, which follows a recent security breach at D.S.

Adegbenro ICT Polytechnic, Itori, where an HND II student was killed during a robbery. The association emphasized that students should not have to risk their lives for education and called for comprehensive security measures to prevent future attacks.

NANS also urged the government to invest in affordable on-campus accommodation to mitigate security risks.
