NANS Calls for Support for Terrorism Victims in Oyo

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has appealed for counseling and scholarships for victims of terrorism after the successful rescue of pupils and a teacher abducted in Oriire Local Government Area, Oyo State. In an open letter issued on Friday, NANS, coordinated by Adeyemo Josiah, commended President Bola Tinubu and Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, along with security agencies, for their efforts in the rescue operation.

The association emphasized that while the government has invested resources in rehabilitating former insurgents, greater attention should be given to innocent victims of terrorism, particularly children who endure psychological trauma. NANS called for the establishment of a special intervention program by the federal government to provide comprehensive psychological counseling, free medical treatment, educational support, and economic assistance to affected families.

The organization pledged to continue partnering with the government and security agencies to promote peace and coexistence in the region, warning that the southwest should not become a haven for terrorist activities.
