Napoli President Admits Regret Over Victor Osimhen and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia

Napoli President, Aurelio De Laurentiis, expressed regret over the departures of Victor Osimhen and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. Kvaratskhelia played a pivotal role in Napoli's Serie A title win, the club's first league title since the 1990 season.

Despite interest from European clubs, Napoli managed to keep the player until his departure in the winter window of 2025 for Paris for €100 million after winning the UEFA Champions League in his first season. Osimhen also left Napoli, joining Galatasaray on loan for €25 million after attempting to force his way out during the summer.

De Laurentiis admitted that he was forced to sell the players due to threats of using Article 17, a rule that allows players to unilaterally terminate contracts if they feel their career progression is being unjustly altered by the club. Despite the departures, Napoli has invested in improving the squad, including signing Kevin De Bruyne.
