NAPTIP Arrests 8 Suspected Human Traffickers, Rescues 29 Victims In Abuja

NAPTIP recently made a significant breakthrough in the fight against human trafficking by arresting eight suspected members of a syndicate operating between Nigeria and Ghana. The agency also rescued 29 victims, mostly foreign nationals from West African countries, in a raid on a popular apartment in a secluded part of Gwagwalada, Abuja.

The operation was carried out following intelligence provided by the Ghanaian Embassy in Abuja, which alerted NAPTIP to the trafficking of Ghanaian nationals who were being exploited in Nigeria. This rescue comes on the heels of another successful operation where 25 women trafficked to Saudi Arabia for domestic exploitation were rescued.

NAPTIP's Press Officer, Vincent Adekoye, emphasized the importance of bilateral cooperation in combating human trafficking and highlighted the agency's commitment to disrupting such criminal activities.
