Ombugadu Rejoins PDP Amid Nasarawa Political Intrigues

David Ombugadu, a two-term member of the House of Representatives, has rejoined the People's Democratic Party (PDP) after a short period with the All Progressives Congress (APC). His initial defection to the APC was influenced by a promise of support from the APC national leadership under President Bola Tinubu.

However, following a lack of support from the APC state chapter led by Dr. Aliyu Bello, and internal political dynamics, Ombugadu decided to return to the PDP.

He previously lost the gubernatorial candidacy to Governor Abdullahi Sule in a tightly contested race in 2023. The political landscape in Nasarawa State is complicated by the perception of settler dominance and the historical context of Christian representation in governance.

Ombugadu's return to the PDP is seen as a strategic move ahead of the 2027 gubernatorial elections, as he aims to leverage his popularity and support base within the state.
