PDP Regrets Dr. Ombugadu's Resignation Amid Leadership Disputes

The People's Democratic Party (PDP) has voiced its regret regarding Dr. Ombugadu's decision to resign from the party, which he announced in a letter dated February 28, 2026.

Ombugadu, a former governorship candidate in Nasarawa State, left the PDP following ongoing internal leadership disagreements. Hajiya Farida Umar, the party's Deputy National Public Secretary, described Ombugadu's exit as a painful moment for the PDP, highlighting the value of their shared history and the time, effort, and sacrifices made during electoral campaigns.

Umar stressed that the PDP remains committed to its ideologies and structures, focusing on reorganizing for the upcoming 2027 elections. She urged party members to stay united and committed to the party's goals, emphasizing the importance of grassroots support.

Dr. Ombugadu's political journey began with the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) in 2011, and he joined the PDP in 2014, winning re-election in the 2015 general elections.
