Nasarawa State Approves ₦2 Billion for Pension Arrears

The Nasarawa State Government has approved a sum of ₦2 billion for the payment of pension arrears and other entitlements owed to retirees in the state. This announcement was made by Mr. Peter Ahemba, the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Abdullahi Sule on Public Affairs, during a bi-monthly press briefing in Lafia on Wednesday.
Ahemba stated that this approval aligns with Governor Sule’s commitment to ensuring that pensioners do not suffer in accessing their dues. The last pension payment covered retirees up to around 2012, while the new approval will address payments from 2013 to the present.
Ahemba also mentioned that the state government is collaborating with the Nasarawa State Pension Board to finalize the disbursement modalities, emphasizing the goal of reducing the backlog of pension liabilities. He assured that the Pension Board would release details of the payment schedule in due course.
