ADC Claims Venue Owner Pressured Ahead of Convention

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has raised concerns regarding alleged pressure on the owner of the Rainbow Event Centre in Abuja, where the party's national convention is set to take place. Bolaji Abdullahi, the party's spokesperson, stated that the venue owner was informed by the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) that their license would be revoked if they allowed the ADC to use the facility.

Abdullahi emphasized that the party had already entered into a valid contract with the venue management and insisted that the convention would proceed as planned. This situation arises amid ongoing leadership disputes within the ADC, which has seen multiple factions and a recent controversial delisting by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The ADC views this pressure as part of a broader attempt to weaken opposition parties in Nigeria, raising concerns about political tolerance and democratic processes in the country.
