ADC Claims Venue Owner Pressured to Cancel Convention

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has alleged that the owner of the Rainbow Event Centre in Abuja was pressured to cancel their convention booking, despite the party having a valid agreement and having made full payment. The ADC claims that the Federal Capital Territory Administration, led by Minister Nyesom Wike, exerted pressure on the venue owner, threatening to revoke their operating license if the event proceeded.

In a statement, the ADC described the situation as an attempt to suppress democratic expression and warned against what they termed a creeping tyranny in the political space. The party reaffirmed its intention to proceed with the convention as scheduled, citing the existing contractual agreement with the venue.

As of the time of the report, neither the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) nor the office of the FCT Minister had responded to the allegations made by the ADC.
