Atiku Abubakar Calls El-Rufai's Arrest Attempt Embarrassing

Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President of Nigeria, criticized the attempted arrest of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, labeling it a "national embarrassment." This statement was made during a solidarity visit to El-Rufai's residence in Abuja on Thursday. The incident arose when the Department of State Services (DSS) allegedly attempted to detain El-Rufai shortly after he arrived in Cairo, Egypt, aboard an EgyptAir flight.

Atiku emphasized that the treatment of El-Rufai was unjustifiable, highlighting that individuals who have held high public office, such as ministers and governors, should not be subjected to such embarrassment. He asserted that there is no need to embarrass citizens who abide by the law, as it reflects poorly on the entire society.
