Lagos Police Sensitize Drivers on Electoral Violence

On April 1, 2026, the Lagos State Police Command held a sensitization program for drivers at Ojota Motor Park, marking the 2026 National Police Day. This initiative, which included a walkathon on March 30 and 31, aimed to promote peace, enhance police visibility, and strengthen public trust in safety across the state.

The program, led by CP Tijani Fatai, addressed critical issues such as electoral violence, cultism, and gender-based violence (GBV). Adebisi, from the police public relations office, emphasized the importance of safe driving practices during the sessions.

The program highlighted various electoral offenses, including vote buying, thuggery, and ballot box snatching, warning that such actions threaten the credibility of elections and Nigeria's democratic stability. The police urged citizens, particularly drivers, to uphold the rule of law and support peaceful electoral processes.

Additionally, the program included discussions on the dangers of cultism and the importance of reporting GBV cases, reinforcing the police's commitment to community engagement and public safety.
