Tinubu Announces Police Modernization Plans on National Day

On National Police Day, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu unveiled a plan to modernize Nigeria's policing system, highlighting the need for investment in law enforcement training and intelligence gathering to transform the Nigeria Police Force into a world-class institution. The announcement was made on Tuesday during celebrations in Abuja, where Vice President Kashim Shettima also spoke, stressing that no nation can achieve meaningful progress without a secure environment.

Tinubu noted the government's moral obligation to empower security agencies and committed to ongoing support for reforms, sustainable investments, and improved welfare for police personnel. He emphasized that security is foundational to national development and warned that peace and stability depend significantly on law enforcement personnel.

The President paid tribute to officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty and urged serving officers to uphold professionalism and the rule of law. Inspector General of Police Olatunji Disu reiterated the commitment to address public concerns and improve police service delivery.
