Tinubu's Education Reforms for Nigerian Police Announced

Dr. Tunji Alausa, the Minister of Education, stated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is dedicated to transforming the Nigerian Police Force through educational initiatives.

This includes upgrading police academies and establishing new campuses, particularly a southern campus in Abeokuta, Ogun State. During a meeting with Inspector General of Police Tunji Disu and other senior police officials, Alausa emphasized the need for the National Universities Commission (NUC) to expedite resource verification to facilitate the admission of the first set of students by September-November 2026.

The plan includes a capacity for 42 police colleges across the country. Alausa also mentioned the establishment of three committees to oversee resource allocation, capacity improvement, and infrastructure development for the new academy.

The initiative aims to enhance police training and ultimately improve national security.
