Delta State Commissioner Denies Demotion Amid Sports Commission Controversy

Charles Aniagwu, the Delta State commissioner for Works and Rural Roads Public Information, denied knowledge of any demotion involving Festus Ohwojero, the immediate past Delta State Sports Commission member. Concerns arose in Delta State over perceived selective punishment, especially since the chairman of the State Sports Commission, Onoriode Oborevwori, faced repercussions.

The state hosted the 9th edition of the National Youth Games with disappointing results attributed to inadequate funding and late preparations. Governor Sheriff Oborevwori established a Local Organising Committee to oversee the event, aiming to improve performance standards in sports in the state.
